Deceiving Lies (Forgiving Lies #2)

Book: Deceiving Lies (Forgiving Lies #2)
Author: Molly McAdams
Synopsis: The irresistible, blazing-hot sequel to New York Times bestselling author Molly McAdams’s Forgiving Lies.
Rachel is supposed to be planning her wedding to Kash, the love of her life. After the crazy year they’ve had, she’s ready to settle down and live a completely normal life. Well, as normal as it can be. But there’s something else waiting—something threatening to tear them apart.
Kash is ready for it all with Rach. Especially if all includes having a football team of babies with his future wife. With his line of work, he knows how short life can be, and doesn’t want to waste another minute of theirs. But now his past as an undercover narcotics agent has come back to haunt him … and it’s the girl he loves who’s caught in the middle.
Trent Cruz’s orders are clear: take the girl. But there’s something about this girl that has him changing the rules and playing a dangerous game to keep her safe. When his time as Rachel’s protector runs out, he will turn his back on the only life he’s known, and risk everything, if it means getting her out alive.

My Thoughts

This book had me on the edge of my seat most of the time. There was danger around every corner and it was suspenseful. This is by far my favourite Molly McAdams book to date. Also by far my favourite series of Molly’s.

“… if I’ve lost her, I’ve already lost it all.”
The book started not when Rachel was kidnapped but back when she met Kash’s parents. I did not understand why it started like that but it was kind of refreshing not jumping right into the kidnapping. I liked seeing Kash and Rachel being a very adorable couple. The day that she was kidnapped was had me on the edge of my seat all the time and I did not get it why the guy who kidnapped Rachel sincerely felt sorry for doing it. This book had me dropping everything I had to do at work where I read instead of work I could not think of anything else but read the book.
“I was about to lose it. I was so close to breaking from all this, and as the days went by, I was getting desperate.”
When Kash and the other cops started investigating the kidnapping I did not expect they would get pictures and stuff of her being tortured. I never thought I would have a draw dropping moment when the guy who kidnapped Rachel was actually protecting her from the rest of the gang. He did not even try to force himself on her. Later in the book we find out why he was protecting her. He changed the orders that he got from Juarez, I mean he just said that they should kidnap her and do everything they can to get the gang that’s in prison out. That means Trent put his life in danger to protect her at all cost.
“I felt like I was dying from what I had seen and heard … I didn’t know if she was even still alive. And when I got her back — because I was getting her back — I didn’t know what would be left of her fiery spirit I’d fallen in love with.”
Rachel started changing she was always scared now (well that’s what I guess she would feel) but I did not think that she might start getting feelings for Trent especially after she walked in to the bathroom while he showered that very night the power went out the first night. I laughed out loud when Trent bought her cheese cake one night and she like attacked him for it and I sure know it did not help him that much with her on top of him.She did not understand why he suddenly changed and it became awkward that night but they still talked and stuff. I liked that he bought her nail polish and new clothes and a journal for her. The night when she walked into the bathroom with him in the shower everything changed for her. He became her protector and she promised herself if she ever got out she would tell the cops to clear his name the other guys really did try and get her away from Trent but he would rather kill his brothers than let them hurt her.
“Deceiving people was natural … it had been my job for so long that lying to protect myself, or those I loved was as easy as breathing. I’d promised Rachel that there would be no more lies, forgiving or not. When it came to her, there hadn’t been, and there wouldn’t be when she came back. But all bets were off until I found her. I would deceive anyone, lie about everything and do anything to get her back.”
I think that is what Kash would have done to. I mean Kash was doing everything he could think of to get her back even if it means that he was breaking the laws. The cops weren’t getting anywhere in finding Rachel so I understand why he would start threatening the other undercover cop and his crew. Thank goodness for that other cop who found more information for Kash than the cops would have gotten from interviewing the gang members in prison.
“I’d known she’d been changing, but something had happened … the fiesty Rachel I’d come to know over the last few weeks was gone. She was terrified like she always should have been … but instead of retreating from me like I would expect her to, she was clinging to me. I didn’t understand it, but I wasn’t about to question it. Because nothing about my feelings had changed, even though everything about her had.”
That last night she was at the place has made her worry over Trent safety more like she had feelings for him. Feelings that she does not understand. She knows she loves Kash but Trent told her they stopped looking for her (the cops I mean) and that when she felt like she lost all hope and he was doing everything to get her out of there and he thought he was going to die that night but that very same night Kash found her and she did something he never thought she would do. Kash might not have understood why she trusted Trent in the beginning but he understands now and I was shocked at what he did for Trent. That ending was the sweetest thing I have ever read and had me laughing out loud at moments.  It made me fall in love with Kash even more, his protective and loving and he would do absolutely everything to keep his Rachel safe. This book gets a five star from me but I will tell you this book deserves more than just 5 stars it deserves an infinity of stars.
“I love you, Logan Kash Ryan, and I’m so thankful for you.”
“Ditto, Sour Patch.”
Read the first book of the Series!

Synopsis: A matter of secrets...
Undercover cop Logan "Kash" Ryan can't afford a distraction like his new neighbor Rachel Masters, even if she's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. To catch a serial killer, he needs to stay focused, yet all he can think about is the feisty, long-legged coed whose guarded nature intrigues him

A matter of lies...
Deceived and hurt before, Rachel would rather be a single, crazy cat lady than trust another guy, especially a gorgeous, tattooed bad boy with a Harley, like Kash. But when his liquid-steel eyes meet hers, it takes all of Rachel's will-power to stop herself from exploring his hot body with her own.

A matter of love...
As much as they try to keep it platonic, the friction between them sparks an irresistible heat that soon consumes them. Can Kash keep Rachel's heart and her life safe even as he risks his own? Will she be able to forgive his lies ... or will she run when she discovers the dangerous truth?

Molly McAdamsAbout Molly McAdams
Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband and furry four-legged daughters. When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies, fried pickles and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm ... or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.
